After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chanute, Girard was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They rang in the new year with a 60-52 win over the Baxter Springs Lions. The Trojans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Girard's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Baxter Springs, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Girard will welcome Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Baxter Springs, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Baxter Springs Lions challenge the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
