Softball Recap: Venture Academy's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Venture Academy dropped their record down to 9-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 16-3 to the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on April 7th.

Tiffany Bruss was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.

On Ben Holt College Prep Academy's side, Emma Valli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Valli has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Julieann Drulias was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mindy Claypool, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, Venture Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against River Islands at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Riptide at the right time seeing as the Riptide are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Millennium at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
