Preview: Hazen Highlanders vs. Lake Washington Kangaroos

Hazen is 0-6 against Lake Washington since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hazen Highlanders on the road again and play against the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

In what's become a running theme this season, Hazen gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-32 margin over Interlake. Given Hazen's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Interlake is ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dakota Nap continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Makenna Garrett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lake Washington had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.9 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They came out on top against Everett by a score of 55-48.

The victory got Hazen back to even at 9-9. As for Lake Washington, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Hazen came up short against Lake Washington when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 60-49. Can Hazen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
