Baseball Recap: Manteca Starts Season with Win Against Weston Ranch

Manteca took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Weston Ranch Cougars a 17-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Buffaloes also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Nate Slikker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in triples. Preston Smith was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Manteca always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weston Ranch only posted an OBP of .250.

Manteca didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-0 victory against Los Banos on the 12th. As for Weston Ranch, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars take on the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
