Softball Recap: Wes-Del Drops Season-High Score on Southwood

The matchup between Wes-Del and Southwood on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Knights 15-14. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Keylie Byrd was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Marley Bertram was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Byrd wasn't the only one making solid contact: Wes-Del kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory got Wes-Del back to even at 3-3. As for Southwood, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Wes-Del will welcome Randolph Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Southwood, they will take on Bluffton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
