Basketball Recap: CIARA THOMAS's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Trezevant over Memphis Business Academy

After flying high against Crosstown last Wednesday, Trezevant came back down to earth. The Trezevant Bears took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Memphis Business Academy Execs. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Execs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Trezevant's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CIARA THOMAS, who posted four points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks. THOMAS has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JUSTICE DUNLAP, who put up 13 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Trezevant smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Memphis Business Academy's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tarrin Hill, who had nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Sarai Batts, who scored nine points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Trezevant's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-11. As for Memphis Business Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Trezevant will challenge Memphis Business Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 31st. Memphis Business Academy has already played their next contest (against KIPP Collegiate), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
