Baseball Recap: Sunbright Takes a Loss

Sunbright was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 11-3 to the Scott Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Friday.

Brett Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Justin Ballard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Sunbright's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Scott, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Sunbright will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wartburg Central at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. Scott has already played their next match (against White County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
