Football Recap: Sequoyah Eagles vs. Mannford Pirates

Sequoyah was the 61-22 winner over Mannford when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell 32-22 to the Pirates on Friday.

Although Sequoyah took the loss, they still got scores from Jake Gilbreath, Mason Weeks, and Luke Rhine.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jj Hindsman and Brayden Rodriguez. Hindsman rushed for 160 yards and two scores while picking up 10.0 yards per carry while Rodriguez rushed for 151 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Rodriguez's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Naylor, who rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

Sequoyah now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Mannford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Sequoyah and Mannford will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles will challenge rival Vinita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mannford is set to take on their familiar foe McLoud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
