They were beaten by Santa Cruz Valley 86-15. Having soared to a lofty 63 points in the game before, Sequoia Pathway Academy couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Horizon Honors can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They really took it to Tempe Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-43 win at home. Given Horizon Honors' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Knights are ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Matthew McEnaney, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 17 times he's played. Max Gerelick was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Sequoia Pathway Academy's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.8 points per game. As for Horizon Honors, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Sequoia Pathway Academy took a serious blow against the Eagles when the teams last played back in January, falling 71-17. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sequoia Pathway Academy was down 43-8.
