Recap: Sabino Sabercats vs. Sahuaro Cougars
This season hasn't been kind to the Sabino Sabercats, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 82-36 loss at the hands of Sahuaro. While losing is never fun, Sabino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Sahuaro is ranked 27th).
Sabino's lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andres Ruiz de Chavez, who scored 12 points. Ruiz de Chavez scored a full 33.3% of Sabino's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Zack Haley was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Sabino's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Sahuaro, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Sabino will be playing at home against Empire at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sahuaro will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Amphitheater at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th.
