Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Fort Bend Kempner Cougars

For the second straight game, Lamar Consolidated will face off against Fort Bend Kempner. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Lamar Consolidated was able to grind out a solid win over Fort Bend Kempner, taking the game 7-2.

Sebastian Silva looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Lamar Consolidated: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Sam Johnson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Randall Sosnowski was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Lamar Consolidated is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Fort Bend Kempner, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12-1.
