Softball Game Preview: Dresden Lions vs. Union City Golden Tornadoes

The Dresden Lions will head out to square off against the Union City Golden Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dresden will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

On Tuesday, Dresden made easy work of Lake County and carried off a 16-1 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Union City entered their contest against Peabody on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Golden Tornadoes fell just short of the Golden Tide by a score of 3-2.

Dresden has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Union City, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Dresden came out on top in a nail-biter against Union City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
