Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Smithies vs. Loudonville Redbirds

The Smithville Smithies will challenge the Loudonville Redbirds at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Smithville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southern 61-31. The Smithies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Loudonville strolled past Mapleton with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 37-19. The squad ran away with 28 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Smithville's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points over those games. As for Loudonville, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

Smithville beat Loudonville 32-24 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Smithville repeat their success, or does Loudonville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
