Basketball Recap: Jose Chaparro Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Navajo Pine

Estancia was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Navajo Pine on Thursday. Everything went the Estancia Bears' way against the Navajo Pine Warriors as the Estancia Bears made off with a 55-31 victory. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Estancia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jose Chaparro out in front who posted two points along with five rebounds and three steals. Chaparro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Hunter Corona was another key player, putting up five points.

Navajo Pine's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chad Tsosie, who had 12 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Sandoval, who posted six points and six rebounds.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Navajo Pine, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Estancia and Cottonwood Classical Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Navajo Pine, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Capitan at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Navajo Pine is facing Capitan at the right time seeing as Capitan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
