Recap: Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes vs. Richard Pioneers

The Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-26 win over Richard. Given Cranbrook Kingswood's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Richard is ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yasmyn Palmer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Catherine Vaz, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Cranbrook Kingswood pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Richard, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Cranbrook Kingswood will head out on the road to square off against University Liggett at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cranbrook Kingswood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Richard, they will be playing at home against St. Mary Catholic Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
