Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Woodford County

Woodford County barely beat Franklin County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets never let the Flyers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Yellowjackets have posted against the Flyers since April 16, 2019.

The team relied heavily on Max Pittman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devyn Wilkinson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Woodford County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Franklin County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season.

Woodford County will face off against Frederick Douglass at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Broncos have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Franklin County, they will be playing at home against Lloyd Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
