Football Recap: Rockingham County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Rockingham County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Asheboro on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 31-30 to the Blue Comets. The Cougars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Rockingham County still got an impressive performance from Luke Strittmatter, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 172 yards and three TDs. Malachi Bryant was another key player, picking up 115 receiving yards and one score.

Dallas Brinton produced another solid performance rushing for 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 112 yards and one TD for Asheboro.

Rockingham County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Asheboro, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Rockingham County will welcome McMichael at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Asheboro, they are taking a road trip to face off against Eastern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
