Volleyball Recap: Cienega Takes Down Ranked Catalina Foothills

Cienega faced Catalina Foothills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bobcats came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Bobcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Cienega might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Catalina Foothills scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22.

Dawson Briggs paced Cienega's offense, picking up 12 kills. Briggs got some help from Caiden Mott and his 32 assists. Mott was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Catalina Foothills' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zane Schwartz, who had 13 digs and three assists. Another player making a difference was Isak Sanchez, who had 12 digs.

Cienega has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Catalina Foothills, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-10.

Cienega didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Buena on the 3rd. As for Catalina Foothills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Canyon del Oro on the 3rd.
