The biggest upset of the week belonged to New Fairfield, who took down 45th ranked Bunnell, 41-24.

Barlow's Jack Shaban recorded the longest rushing play in Southwest this season in his game against Notre Dame Catholic last week. Shaban ran for 85 yards on the play and finished with 161 on the day as his team defeated the Lancers.

Justin Schaffer was the best wideout in the league this week as Weston bested Pomperaug. Schaffer racked up eight receptions for 116 yards. Erik Dammen-brower helped Weston's passing attack out by catching three balls for 22 yards.

Brad Westmark put up the best numbers through the air as Brookfield topped New Milford. He finished with 26 completions for 280 yards and one touchdown. Westmark's favorite target this week was Boeing Brown, who caught six passes for 66 yards.

The Bobcats' Westmark and Biasetti Nick have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Westmark has thrown for 844 yards this season, while Nick, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 26 catches for 329 yards. Barlow's Shaban leads the league in rushing yards with 466.

The marquee game in Southwest this week will be the clash between Newtown and Brookfield. The Nighthawks enters the contest ranked 12th in the state, while Rich Angarano's team ranks 18th.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Newtown takes on the Bobcats. Steve George's team has allowed 28 points this season, while Brookfield has given up 37. The Nighthawks allowed 14 points last week as they defeated Stratford.

The Bobcats were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Green Wave 24-0. Brookfield came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 38 last week.
