Recap: Wyatt Chaparrals vs. Sam Rayburn Texans
The Wyatt Chaparrals had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 40-36 win over Sam Rayburn on Friday. The victory was just what Wyatt needed coming off of a 54-14 loss in their prior match.
Wyatt was led to victory by Tianna Johnson and Zyniesha Horner. Johnson scored ten points along with five rebounds, while Horner dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Horner hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Sam Rayburn's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BreAnn Figgs, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for Figgs. Kimari Mikell was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Wyatt's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Sam Rayburn, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wyatt will take on Trinity Leadership at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Leadership is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Sam Rayburn, they will be playing at home against Klein Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Klein Forest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sam Rayburn in Texas (Klein Forest is ranked 437th, while Sam Rayburn is ranked 1121st).
