Baseball Recap: Fort Cherry Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bentworth last Wednesday, Fort Cherry came back down to earth. The Rangers fell just short of the McGuffey Highlanders by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rangers of the 11-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Ryan Huey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Colton Temple, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Fort Cherry now has a losing record of 3-4. As for McGuffey, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Cherry will square off against Frazier at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McGuffey, they will face off against Charleroi at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
