Baseball Game Preview: Man Hillbillies vs. Calhoun Red Devils

The Man Hillbillies will face off against the Calhoun Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Man's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Calhoun's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Man sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Lincoln County.

Meanwhile, Calhoun made easy work of Hannan on Monday and carried off a 20-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Chase Schoolcraft made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Calhoun's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 6-2 (and 6-15 when he doesn't). Schoolcraft was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

In other pitching news, Reese Schoolcraft looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Garrett Carpenter was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Ruger Carder was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Calhoun's victory bumped their record up to 12-17. As for Man, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
