Soccer Recap: Clovis Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Clovis can now relate to. They fell just short of the Madera South Stallions by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Stallions are ranked 206th).

Caleb Farmen and Alexander Rodriguez scored both of Clovis' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 37 goals.

Clovis' defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Madera South, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Clovis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Madera South, they will challenge Buchanan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madera South's last seven matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
