The Stevenson Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Taft Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Stevenson's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Lane Tech as they made off with a 7-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Stevenson got a great performance from Ava Potempa as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Potempa has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Maahi Patel was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Jepson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Taft got the win against ITW David Speer Academy on Friday by a conclusive 16-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Pride recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Claire Dennewitz tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Taft let Gabriela Gonzalez and Michaela Power run wild. Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Power went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Jiselle Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Taft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Stevenson pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Stevenson suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Taft when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
