Baseball Recap: Starkville Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Starkville finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison Central Jaguars. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 4-2 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Starkville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Torian Knox, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Starkville's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Madison Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

While Starkville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
