Basketball Recap: James Island Takes a Loss

James Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Summerville Green Wave 56-27. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Green Wave are ranked 13th).

James Island used a three-pronged attack on offense: Emiya Victor, Madisyn Smith, and Tiana Graf posted five points each.

Molly Daugherty continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Summerville, going 6 of 8 en route to 18 points. Daugherty has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Destinee Grant, who posted nine points.

James Island's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Summerville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

James Island has already played their next contest (against Fort Dorchester), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Summerville will venture away from home to face off against Ashley Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Ashley Ridge has won nine straight at home, while Summerville won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
