Georgetown Visitation Prep has won three straight games at home, while Potomac School has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs will welcome the Potomac School Panthers at 5:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Georgetown Visitation Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Maret, who was ranked 11th at the time (Georgetown Visitation Prep was ranked 24th). Georgetown Visitation Prep snuck past Maret with a 58-54 win on Tuesday.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Alyssa Fitzgerald and Kennedy Austin. Fitzgerald had a solid game and posted 12 points. Meanwhile, Austin was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Potomac School). They really took it to Connelly School of the Holy Child for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-51 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.
Potomac School found their leader in sophomore Sabrina Anderson, who went 7 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Letendre, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.
Potomac School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Potomac School has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Georgetown Visitation Prep has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Potomac School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Georgetown Visitation Prep might still be hurting after the 68-48 loss they got from Potomac School when the teams last played on Friday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Potomac School's Ava Sewall, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 21 points and three steals. Now that Georgetown Visitation Prep knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
