Richlands had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with an 18-6 victory over the Southwest Onslow Stallions. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 12 in total. All those points came courtesy of Isaiah Betton: he added 12 points with four field goals.

Richlands' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Trea'Vaun Flanagan, Matthew Stein, and Joel Roberts, who each picked up one sack apiece. Beau Mills got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richlands will venture away from home to take on White Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest Onslow, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Croatan at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
