Baseball Game Preview: Wheeling Wildcats vs. Hoffman Estates Hawks

The Wheeling Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Hoffman Estates Hawks at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Elk Grove hit Wheeling with a five-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell 8-4 to the Grenadiers. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Grenadiers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Hoffman Estates lost 17-5 to Barrington on Wednesday. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hoffman Estates saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Karecki, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Wheeling's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Hoffman Estates, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Wheeling might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Hoffman Estates when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
