Softball Recap: Xavier College Prep Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Xavier College Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They never let the Desert Vista Thunder get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Angie Falls was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sariah McNabb, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Root, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Xavier College Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Xavier College Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Desert Vista, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-3.

Xavier College Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Thunder: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
