Football Recap: Lowell Falls to East Grand Rapids in First Game of Season

Lowell couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 33-14 bruising from the East Grand Rapids Pioneers on Thursday. The Red Arrows haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

East Grand Rapids can attribute much of their success to Carson Thornton, who threw for 274 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lowell will host Mattawan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Grand Rapids, they will be playing at home against South Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
