Softball Recap: Allen East Takes a Loss

Allen East extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ridgemont Golden Gophers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 5-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

Allen East saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sondra Clum, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Maddie Miller was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Ridgemont, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Ridgemont's side, Ruth Eckstein was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Eckstein a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Shreve, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Allen East will head out to face off against Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgemont, they will venture away from home to square off against Arlington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.91 runs per game on average), something the Golden Gophers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
