Basketball Recap: Craig County Comes Up Short at Home Against Roanoke Valley Christian + How To Watch

Craig County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES by a score of 45-43 on Thursday. The Rockets haven't had much luck with the EAGLES recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Roanoke Valley Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Hawley, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. Those 16 points gave Hawley a new career-high. Austin Atkins was another key player, shooting 40% from the field en route to 13 points and three steals.

The victory got Roanoke Valley Christian back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Craig County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roanoke Valley Christian will be paying especially close attention to the Rockets' matchup: after the Rockets face off against James River, they'll take on Roanoke Valley Christian again at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
