Basketball Game Preview: South Point Pointers vs. Chesapeake Panthers

South Point and Chesapeake are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The South Point Pointers will head out to face off against the Chesapeake Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Saturday, South Point ended up a good deal behind Minford and lost 63-47. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Falcons are ranked 18th).

Meanwhile, Chesapeake's undefeated season came to an end after 14 games on Saturday. They fell just short of Valley by a score of 66-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since December 23, 2023.

Chesapeake's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-1. As for South Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

South Point suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to Chesapeake in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can South Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
