Baseball Recap: Tuscola Find Success

Tuscola won against Smoky Mountain last Friday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Mountaineers skirted past the West Lincoln Rebels 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mountaineers have posted since March 21st.

Ian Amsler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, Tuscola saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Williams has posted since back in March. Another was Kolt Nelson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Tuscola and bumps their season record up to 13-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for West Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Coming up, Tuscola will take on R-S Central in a tournament on Wednesday. As for West Lincoln, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Kings Mountain at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountaineers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
