Baseball Game Preview: Ross Little Giants vs. Springfield Blue Devils

The Ross Little Giants are taking a road trip to challenge the Springfield Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Springfield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ross, who comes in off a win.

Ross not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 11-1). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Whitmer.

Karson Kayden made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Breylen Garza, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Robert Rich Jr was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Ross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Springfield fell victim to Northview and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

The victory got Ross back to even at 8-8. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Ross couldn't quite get it done against Springfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Little Giants avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
