Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Theodore Wilson and Wyatt Kirch Lead Rampart to Victory

While Rampart didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks by a score of 68-61 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2022.

Rampart was led to victory by Wyatt Kirch and Theodore Wilson. Kirch almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards, while Wilson went 8 of 11 en route to 23 points. The match was Wilson's third in a row with at least ten points. Elias Bishop was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the loss, Cheyenne Mountain had strong showings from Alex Treglia, who posted 20 points and three steals, and Cayden Cooper, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Cooper has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Marek Patterson, who had four points along with six boards and five assists.

Rampart is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Cheyenne Mountain, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-2 record.

Rampart will face off against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rampart knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Vista Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will square off against Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lutheran will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Cheyenne Mountain surely won't give up without a fight.
