Preview: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights vs. Amelia Academy Patriots
The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Amelia Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Thursday, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot came up short against Southampton Academy and fell 35-28. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot has struggled against Southampton Academy recently, as their match last Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot saw an underclassman step up: Erin Maynes scored ten points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Isabella Arbitelle put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 16 points along with five steals. That was a full 76.2% of Amelia Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Amelia Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Amelia Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
