Basketball Recap: Daniel Durazo Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Sahuarita never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Baboquivari on Saturday. They came out on top against the Baboquivari Warriors by a score of 57-46. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 58-55 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sahuarita to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Durazo, who posted ten points along with seven assists and three steals. Those seven assists gave Durazo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Naylor, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.

Sahuarita has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Baboquivari, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Sahuarita wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-58 defeat against Rincon/University on the 16th. As for Baboquivari, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-23 win against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind on the 17th.
