Whitefield Academy is 0-10 against Kentucky Country Day since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. Andrew Beickman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Whitefield Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Beickman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Stockton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Whitefield Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Bladen Finney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Kentucky Country Day was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Holy Cross by a score of 2-1.
Tyler Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Whitefield Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Kentucky Country Day, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Whitefield Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kentucky Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
