Volleyball Recap: Frederick's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Frederick had lost four straight headed into Friday's contest, but Kendall Ortiz didn't let it get to five. The Cadets put the hurt on the Brunswick Railroaders with a sharp 3-0 win on Friday with plenty of help from Ortiz, who had five aces, three digs, and one block. Ortiz is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season.

Frederick was especially dominant in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-12.

Frederick's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sinyla Tyler, who had 23 digs. Those 23 digs gave Tyler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailyn Bryant, who had 12 digs and three aces.

Frederick's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Brunswick, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Frederick will be playing at home against Tuscarora at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brunswick, they will venture away from home to square off against Clear Spring at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
