Basketball Game Preview: West Monona Spartans vs. Kingsley-Pierson Panthers

West Monona is 2-8 against Kingsley-Pierson since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The West Monona Spartans will host the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

West Monona is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 9th on Monday. They lost 72-51 to Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Falcons are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, Kingsley-Pierson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-42 heartbreaker at the hands of Westwood.

West Monona's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Kingsley-Pierson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

West Monona came out on top in a nail-biter against Kingsley-Pierson when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 58-56. Will West Monona repeat their success, or does Kingsley-Pierson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
