Softball Recap: Fenwick Beats Loyola Academy for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Fenwick got themselves on the board against Loyola Academy on Tuesday, but Loyola Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Ramblers with a sharp 6-0 win. The Friars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Gianna Pescatore looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Fenwick's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Simon, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Alex Purta, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The win (which was Fenwick's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Loyola Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Looking ahead, Fenwick will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Loyola Academy, they will head out to challenge Whitney Young at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Ramblers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dolphins have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
