The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers will challenge the Manheim Central Barons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lampeter-Strasburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Lampeter-Strasburg was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Greencastle-Antrim on Friday. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 9-2 victory. Considering the Pioneers have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Devin Aponte looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lampeter-Strasburg let Chase Messinger and James Wall run wild. Messinger got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Wall went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Wall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Scranton, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Manheim Central came into Saturday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Donegal on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Barons have posted since April 12, 2024.
Kyle Mylin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Manheim Central is 7-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Mylin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases.
In other batting news, Chase Book was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Lampeter-Strasburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Manheim Central, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Lampeter-Strasburg took their win against Manheim Central when the teams last played last Thursday by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Barons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
