Football Recap: Appling County Comes Up Short on the Road Against Ware County + How To Watch

Appling County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Ware County Gators 55-7 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 40-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, Appling County still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Knight, who rushed for 88 yards and one score.

Tayshaun Franklin was a one-man wrecking crew For Ware County. as he rushed for 152 yards and three TDs on only five carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Franklin has posted since back in October of 2024. Jamir Boyd helped out on the ground, rushing for 103 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Appling County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Ware County, they have already played their next contest, a 24-14 win against Coffee on the 22nd.
