Softball Recap: Litchfield Extends Winning Streak to Five

Litchfield hadn't done well against Watertown-Mayer recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Dragons put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Paizli Johnson was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Autum Theil also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Litchfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win (which was Litchfield's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Watertown-Mayer, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Litchfield will challenge Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Watertown-Mayer, they will head out to challenge Annandale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight.
