Basketball Recap: Williams Comes Up Short

After soaring to 60 points the game before, Williams was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They took a blow against the Gridley Bulldogs, falling 57-30. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1185th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 411th).

Williams' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Ambriz, who posted 11 points. That was a full 36.7% of the Yellowjackets' points, marking the third time in a row Ambriz has scored more than a third of the team's points. Miguel Murillo was another key player, putting up eight points.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Gridley, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Williams has already played their next contest, a 57-51 loss against Pierce on the 19th. As for Gridley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-50 victory against Sutter on the 19th.
