Softball Recap: Zion Chapel Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wicksburg, Zion Chapel was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the New Brockton Gamecocks get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Rebels' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Landry Hataway, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Rhodes, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Zion Chapel's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for New Brockton, their loss was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-22.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Zion Chapel will square off against Luverne at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for New Brockton, they will take on Opp at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Gamecocks surely won't give up without a fight.
