Baseball Game Preview: Carlisle County Comets vs. Midland Valley Mustangs

The Carlisle County Comets will challenge the Midland Valley Mustangs at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carlisle County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Western Hills by a score of 5-1.

Maylon Hafford looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Koltyn Perez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Carlisle County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Caysen Mitchell, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Midland Valley can bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Henry County.

Landon Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Evans, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Evans has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kam Langley was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Midland Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Carlisle County back to even at 4-4. As for Midland Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12-1.
