Game recap: Tough first quarter hurts El Modena against Villa Park

Villa Park (Calif.) scored 30 points in the first quarter to secure a big 47-13 victory over El Modena (Orange, Calif.) on Saturday.

The Spartans scored on a touchdown run by Mike Holmes, a Meki Tafuna touchdown run, a touchdown pass by Dylan Osborne to Lenny Cowans and a touchdown run by Justin Mottram in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a Holmes touchdown run in the first quarter, Villa Park led 44-0 at the half.

The the Spartans raced to 30 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.

Osborne stood out for the Spartans in the win. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns.



A 49-14 Villa Park victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

In a Century game next week El Modena (1-3) takes on Foothill, and Villa Park (3-1) will go up against Foothill also in a Century game.
